Introduction
Monascus is a traditional Chinese medicinal and edible dual-use product. It is fermented and cultivated in rice with China's unique Monascus fungus. It has a history of use for thousands of years. The main functional components of Monascus are Monascus pigment, lovastatin (MonacolinK), ergosterol, enzyme active substances and γ-aminobutyric acid and other compounds.
Main functions
1. It has the functions of invigorating the spleen and digesting food, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis.

2. For lowering blood lipids, lowering total cholesterol, reductase inhibitors, directly inhibiting HNG-coA reductase, blocking cholesterol synthesis.

3. Lovastatin can effectively reduce serum cholesterol levels in patients with heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia
